a lot of buildings

Nowadays, a lot of buildings, such as offices and schools, are now being built with an open plan design.

Why is that? Do you see this as a positive or negative development?

In the present era, the majority of education institutes and offices would form with open-space floor plans in their premises rather than having individual cabinet rooms. This idea is to be invited because of its pros. But, I will explain the positive and adverse effects of such development.

The main reason for the open floor structure because of its cost-effectiveness. Therefore, all recommended these types of plans by organizations and institutions. A huge investment is involved in constructing separate cabinets, and in an open design, only the furniture is to be setup. This furnishing works will incur only fewer expenses. Furthermore, such a structure at offices will eliminate the discrimination of staff members. All the staff members irrespective of their grades should sit together at the same place. This arrangement will helpful for the interaction with others and also make it easy to find new staff.

On the other hand, there are some unlikely effects in this kind of seating arrangement. Since all are sitting in a close manner, staff might feel that he/ she is being watched by others and need some privacy. Moreover, this lack of privacy creates stress and anxiety and as a result, will be reflected in their works. They are neither active nor productive at works and other activities. Besides, this sort of seating has the possibility of spreading any contagious diseases among the staff members.

In conclusion, I would like to reemphasize that these open-space designs have both positive and negative sides equally. Whether to take it on a positive or negative side depends on the position where the viewer is.
